Construction of the Deception Pass bridge started

Construction of the Deception Pass bridge started in August of 1934 and was completed in July of 1935. It connects Whidbey Island to Fidalgo Island in our Islands region.

"On your next trip to Washington’s wine country, plan on taking a scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Palouse Region. The area extends from southeastern Washington to the foothills of the Bitterroot Mountains in North Central Idaho. There are plenty of small towns to explore, vineyards to tour, and outdoor recreation to enjoy along the way. One of the highlights of the experience will be a visit to Palouse Falls State Park in the town of Washtucna. There are three overlooks with different vantage points to snap pictures of the 200-foot majestic waterfall. The park is open year-round and is also popular for picnicking and bird watching, especially waterfowl."
